General Conference Baby

So is anyone else excited that today is general conference??!?!? I am! In fact, I was so excited that I woke up like three and a half hours earlier than normal. I am waiting patiently for it to start. Last night before I went to bed I went through BYU tv and recorded the Women's Conferences that were recorded in 2001 and 2002, and since I couldn't sleep and the hubby was still sawing logs I decided to bring all my clean unfolded laundry downstairs and watch the WC while I folded. Camille Fronk was one of the speakers and man was she good. She recited a quote from Elder Melvin J Ballard that touched me so deeply I had to pause it to compose myself so that I didn't miss anything. Then, I grabbed a pen and paper and wrote it down. I called my sister and woke her up to read it to her. I have to write it down here for everyone to read! Now, for those of you who don't know I am a convert to the church and this made me think of my grandma Wishart who I know listened to the Gospel in the spirit world and waited patiently for someone in my family to do the same. My big sis came first and I came next, and I am so thankful that I found the Gospel and how huge of an impact it has had on my entire life. Here is the quote I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!

"Why is it that sometimes only one of a city of household received the Gospel? It was made known to me that it is because of the righteous dead who had received the Gospel in the spirit world excercising themselves, and in answer to their prayers elders of the Church were sent to the homes of their prosperity that the Gospel might be taught to them and through their righteousness they might be priveleged to have a descendant in the flesh do the work for their dead kindred. I want to say to you that it is with greater intensity that the hearts of the fathers and mothers in the spirit world are turned to their children than that our hearts are then turned to them."

-Elder Melvin J Ballard
